Plaster Gauze Mask Sculpture
JT, Advanced Art Student, Spring 2009

Don't you just love it when a student gets really involved in a project and goes SO far beyond the "requirements"? This is a "shout out" to my Advanced Art student, JT, for the extraordinary work he did on a plaster gauze "mask."

Instead of just making a mask, he wanted to do his whole head.... And his hand.... And a few fingers.... The result was a very creepy and incredibly well-crafted plaster gauze sculpture:

Details:

Fingers (complete with fingernails) rise from the swamp.
They hold a needle and thread.

The tears that the stone face has cried form a pool beneath the hand.

A tear "splashes" into the pool.

Way to go, JT!
