When I've used the Art Nouveau period as a unit of study over the years, students have been inspired to create original artwork based on their knowledge of and reaction to the prominent artists and artwork of this period. At times I've assigned particular artists or projects, and at other times the students (usually Advanced Art girls) have been given the freedom to choose artists, projects and directions in which to explore.
