Many of the art projects that we do involves the use of recycled materials. Middle school students collected and used discarded plastic water bottles to create these fun figure sculptures!
Some sand was poured into the bottles to give them a little weight.
When the bottles were about half full, a paper towel was
pushed into the bottle to keep the sand in.
Hands and heads were made of Sculpey,
with the neck extending into the opening of the bottle.
Triangular pieces of cardstock formed the shoulders and chest:
Scrap entrance cable wire was used to form arms,
and the heads and hands were painted with acrylic:
The characters were brought to life with the addition of
fabric, yarn and various accessories!
