Aboriginal Dot Paintings

After looking at Aboriginal "dot" paintings, students in grades 5 through 7 created their own dot-style paintings. Some paintings represented personal life or event "maps," similar to the work they saw when we visited the Kluge-Ruhe Aboriginal Art Collection early in our study of Australia. Other students chose to do representational designs, and some enjoyed experimenting with different patterns.

These paintings were created by dipping the handle end of a paint brush into tempera paint, and then dotting it onto matboard.
