Perfect Harmony
The first time I saw you, I felt that I'd known you
Somewhere back in time in my memory.
There was something familiar in everything about you;
Like the haunting tune of a half-forgotten melody.
And then when I touched you, I felt it even stronger;
Like time had taken hold and captured me.
I felt I was dying; I felt I'd been born again
And an endless love was our destiny.
And I wondered if I'd ever be the same;
If I'd ever understand this mystery.
For in your arms I felt a sense of peace I'd never known;
Completion and perfect harmony.
Then in a dream one night, I saw us in a cabin--
But I don't know where, and I don't know when.
I was lying in the darkness; you were sleeping there beside me
And I knew we shared a love that would never end.
I could see a fire; I listened to its crackling
As the wind blew cold through the trees.
And in this vision, I reached out to touch you,
Vowing we'd be together through eternity.
Then I opened up my eyes and turned on the light
And I found myself alone, 'cause you weren't there.
And although I'd swear it was a dream,
I could still feel your body's warmth
And the smell of woodsmoke lingered in the air....
I don't understand it, and I can't explain it,
But I know we've been together, you and I.
Maybe life's a circle. Maybe time is illusion,
And maybe love like this never can die.
But I know I'll never really be the same
'Cause our souls are bound by timeless destiny.
And in your arms I feel a sense of peace I've known before:
Completion, and perfect harmony.
You've opened my eyes
You've given me wings
You've set my spirit free:
In your arms, I'm as close to heaven--
For now--
As I want to be.
You've opened my eyes
You've given me wings
You've set my spirit free:
In your arms, I'm as close to heaven--
For now--
As I want to be.
