wide, which meant that I had to cut tiny little pieces of Velcro and then sew it into place. \u00a0I was surprised by how tough the &#8220;plastic&#8221; part of the Velcro was AND\u00a0how hard it was to push a needle through it. \u00a0So no pictures of my progress; my hand sewing isn&#8217;t\u00a0all that neat, but hey&#8211;they serve the purpose. \u00a0We both like the color because it adds a nice, bright contrast to all of our blue!<\/p>\n<p>The next project was replacing the chains. \u00a0A couple of months ago Wayne \u00a0sawed off the old chains and the bolt holding them\u00a0because they\u00a0were horribly rusted. \u00a0Getting the <em>new<\/em> bolt in place and tightened was quite the challenge, though, since there wasn&#8217;t a lot of room to work in the space where it needed to go. \u00a0It took some doing, but he finally got them on securely.<\/p>\n<p>The new chain is much heavier and longer than the old chain and so NOW\u00a0we&#8217;re wondering if we&#8217;ll have to find a bolt cutter so we can\u00a0shorten them. \u00a0We&#8217;re also not sure how much slack we need to leave&#8211;certainly enough to make sharp turns&#8211;but when does <em>enough<\/em> slack become too <em>much<\/em> slack?\u00a0 Currently they&#8217;re about 5.5&#8243; above the ground, which seems a little low&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/art-rageous.net\/Soul-Journer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Chains-082315-3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-331\" src=\"https:\/\/art-rageous.net\/Soul-Journer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Chains-082315-3-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Chains-082315-3\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/art-rageous.net\/Soul-Journer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Chains-082315-3-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/art-rageous.net\/Soul-Journer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Chains-082315-3.jpg 720w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I thought I&#8217;d be able to let the extra chain hang down from the hitch, but it was too\u00a0long. \u00a0I looped the end of it back into the hook, but I&#8217;m not sure if this is a good idea or not.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/art-rageous.net\/Soul-Journer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Chains-082315-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-330\" src=\"https:\/\/art-rageous.net\/Soul-Journer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Chains-082315-2-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"Chains-082315-2\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/art-rageous.net\/Soul-Journer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Chains-082315-2-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/art-rageous.net\/Soul-Journer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Chains-082315-2.jpg 540w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Also, our &#8220;break away&#8221; cable is too long. \u00a0That shouldn&#8217;t be <em>too<\/em> difficult\u00a0to shorten, and I guess we&#8217;ll need to because I doubt if we should\u00a0just loop it all around on its hook&#8230;. \u00a0(I&#8217;m waiting to hear back from Scamp experts about both the chains and cable.)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/art-rageous.net\/Soul-Journer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/BreakawayCable-082315.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-332\" src=\"https:\/\/art-rageous.net\/Soul-Journer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/BreakawayCable-082315-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"BreakawayCable-082315\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/art-rageous.net\/Soul-Journer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/BreakawayCable-082315-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/art-rageous.net\/Soul-Journer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/BreakawayCable-082315.jpg 720w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After connecting everything, we checked to make sure that the lights and turn signals were working (yes), and then Wayne moved the trailer a few feet over in the driveway. \u00a0This will make it easier to get in and out of since we&#8217;ve been <em>way<\/em> too close to a flower bed on the side of the house. \u00a0 It wasn&#8217;t an issue until just recently, and I guess that some of my Black\u00a0Eyed Susans literally <em>have<\/em>\u00a0black eyes since we&#8217;ve stepped on them!<\/p>\n<p>On a very positive note, the past two weekends we&#8217;ve &#8220;camped&#8221; in our yard! \u00a0So cool! \u00a0The new\u00a0Memory Foam mattress is very comfortable, and I&#8217;ve surprised myself by sleeping very soundly. \u00a0And so funny&#8211;the trailer seems really BIG when it&#8217;s dark inside and you look from the very back to the very front&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>I can now fully understand why\u00a0people sometimes use their trailers as &#8220;guest rooms,&#8221;
