{"id":128,"date":"2015-05-17T22:51:23","date_gmt":"2015-05-18T02:51:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/art-rageous.net\/Soul-Journer\/?p=128"},"modified":"2015-07-23T11:20:03","modified_gmt":"2015-07-23T15:20:03","slug":"lady-macbeth-had-her-damned-spot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/art-rageous.net\/Soul-Journer\/?p=128","title":{"rendered":"Lady Macbeth had her &#8220;damned spot&#8221;&#8230;."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8230;. and I have my damned puddle. \ud83d\ude41<\/p>\n<p>While we\u00a0were out today\u00a0(Sunday, May 17th),\u00a0there was a hard rain here. \u00a0When I checked the trailer after we got home, this is what I found. \u00a0AGAIN.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/art-rageous.net\/Soul-Journer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Leak-051715-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-129\" src=\"https:\/\/art-rageous.net\/Soul-Journer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Leak-051715-1-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Leak-051715-1\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/art-rageous.net\/Soul-Journer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Leak-051715-1-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/art-rageous.net\/Soul-Journer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Leak-051715-1.jpg 720w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>What made this even more frustrating is that on Saturday\u00a0Wayne caulked over EVERY rivet that he could reach on the roof, caulked along the belly band by the door and over the screws on the door hinges. \u00a0We REALLY thought we&#8217;d taken care of the leak in the front&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>On the positive side, after <em>yesterday&#8217;s<\/em> rain, there was a tiny bit of water in the window track on the inside, so I cleaned out the track again, cleaned out the weep holes again, and I was delighted to see that it was completely dry after today&#8217;s <em>hard<\/em> rain. \u00a0Yay! \u00a0As a result, I feel pretty confident about putting the fabric on all of the rear walls and ceiling.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/art-rageous.net\/Soul-Journer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Window-Dry-051715.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-130\" src=\"https:\/\/art-rageous.net\/Soul-Journer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Window-Dry-051715-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Window-Dry-051715\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/art-rageous.net\/Soul-Journer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Window-Dry-051715-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/art-rageous.net\/Soul-Journer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Window-Dry-051715.jpg 720w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>But as to the water in the front,\u00a0Wayne has gotten\u00a0up on a ladder a couple of times to look for holes or cracks on the roof and he hasn&#8217;t\u00a0seen anything. \u00a0 This evening\u00a0as it started to rain\u00a0yet again, I decided to try a different approach. \u00a0I already knew that there were no leaks<em> through<\/em> the insulation,\u00a0because it always come from <em>behind<\/em> the insulation&#8211;though I didn&#8217;t know which route\u00a0the water was\u00a0taking to ultimately wind up on our future &#8220;dinette.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/art-rageous.net\/Soul-Journer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Insulation-Door-051715.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-131\" src=\"https:\/\/art-rageous.net\/Soul-Journer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Insulation-Door-051715-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"Insulation-Door-051715\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/art-rageous.net\/Soul-Journer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Insulation-Door-051715-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/art-rageous.net\/Soul-Journer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Insulation-Door-051715.jpg 540w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I figured the only thing to to do was to start ripping off the insulation&#8211;<strong>while<\/strong> it was raining&#8211;and this led to a &#8220;Voila!&#8221; moment and a simultaneous &#8220;What the hell?&#8221; moment&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/art-rageous.net\/Soul-Journer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Roof-051715-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-132\" src=\"https:\/\/art-rageous.net\/Soul-Journer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Roof-051715-1-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Roof-051715-1\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/art-rageous.net\/Soul-Journer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Roof-051715-1-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/art-rageous.net\/Soul-Journer\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Roof-051715-1.jpg 720w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>To my complete surprise, I discovered a series of tiny holes in the ceiling above the door and towards the front of the trailer. \u00a0I don&#8217;t know why we haven&#8217;t been able to see them from the outside, and I have no idea what might have caused them. \u00a0I took some toilet paper and pressed it against each dark (moldy?) spot and all were wet&#8211;some more than others.<\/p>\n<p>I dried them as best as I could with a paper towel, and Wayne caulked them from the inside before the rain got even heavier. \u00a0Not sure if the caulk will stop the leaking, but it&#8217;s the only thing we could think to do as a short-term fix. \u00a0At this point, I&#8217;m not sure what the best long-term fix might be.<\/p>\n<p>While I&#8217;m very glad we finally found the source of my &#8220;damned puddle,&#8221; I have to wonder if there are OTHER\u00a0tiny holes (of unknown origin) behind the insulation in other parts of the trailer. \u00a0We haven&#8217;t had any <em>other<\/em> leaks (yet) and I really, really don&#8217;t want to rip\u00a0out and replace ALL of the insulation, just to check!<\/p>\n<p>But in other quick news, on Saturday we re-attached the door latch that was held on with one rivet. \u00a0We put a couple of small bolts\u00a0through it (with washers and a lock nut) and it&#8217;s very solid now. \u00a0We also discovered that wasps were building a nest under the hitch! \u00a0While I don&#8217;t like to use sprays, these guys needed to go to wasp heaven, and we sent them on their way. \u00a0Since we\u00a0still need to replace the chains on the tongue&#8211;if we can ever get the bolt off&#8211;we had to make sure that we wouldn&#8217;t be reaching into a wasp nest.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8230;. and I have my damned puddle. \ud83d\ude41 While we\u00a0were out today\u00a0(Sunday, May 17th),\u00a0there was a hard rain here. \u00a0When I checked the trailer after we got home, this is what I found. \u00a0AGAIN.
