In the Name of God Amen the Eight Day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & sixty two. I Hezekiah Rhodes of the County of Orange & St. Thomas’s Parish being very sick & weak in Body but of perfect mind & Memory thanks be given to God for the Same & calling to Mind the mortality of my Body & knowing that is is appointed for all men once to die do make this my last Will & Testament that is to say principally & first of all I give & recommend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it & for my Body I recommend it to the Earth to be buried in a Christian like manner at the discretion of Executors nothing doubting but at the General resurrection I have receive the Same again by the Mighty Power of God & as touching such worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give devise & dispose of the same in Manner & form following that is to say
Item my will is that my beloved wife Ann Rhodes shall have the Lent of my whole Estate during her widowhood not to Bassel (?) or wast(e) any part thereof & if my said wife should Chance to Marry or die then my will is that my Estate should be sold at Auction & equally divided among my Children & grand Child that is to say Epaphroditus Rhodes, Hannah Daughauney, Mary Rhodes, John Dickenson Son of Jane Dickenson, excepting one Horse called Woolf & one Bridle & Saddle & one Gun which he is now possessed with all my Smith’s tools which I give my Son above his equal share of my Estate also my Will is that my Daughter Mary should be allowed two pounds ten shillings Current money out of my Estate yearly until she shall Marry above her Equal share of said Estate, there is one Negro Boy Named George which I reserve out of my Will in Order to sell to pay my Debts and I do hereby constitute & appoint my said wife & my son Epaphroditus Rhodes my Joint Executors of this my last Will & Testament & I do hereby utterly Disavow revoke & disanul all & every other former wills & Legacies by me heretofore made & I do hereby Constitute & appoint this my last Will and Testament in Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal the day & year above Written.

At a Court held for Orange County on Thursday the 23rd day of Sep’t 1762
This Last Will & Testament of Hezekiah Rhodes dec’d was presented into Court by Ann Rhodes & Epaphroditus Rhodes Executors therein named & proved by the oaths of William Crawford & John Scott two of the Witnesses thereto & Ordered to be recorded & on the motion of the said Ex’ts who made oath according to Law Certifi? Was granted to them for obtaining probate thereof in due form giving security whereupon they with Thomas Rucker their Security acknowledged their Bond for the Same.
