Digital photos were taken of each student in profile. The pictures were sized to 4″ x 5″ and printed. Students drew a 1/2 inch grid directly on the picture.
They drew a 1-inch grid on a separate piece of paper, and transferred–square by square–the contour line found in each square.
When they had a good contour, they cut out the enlarged image, and placed it FACE DOWN on silhouette paper. (Black construction paper may be used if silhouette paper is not available.)
They traced around the silhouette using a white pencil and then cut it out. The image was flipped back to the “right” side, and mounted on white matboard.
