Sandcastles

The tide came in
And all the love I'd ever known
Got washed away.

You built upon the rock, it seems.

And I don't want your sympathy
And I can do without your
Self-righteous condescension.
But must you keep bringing me
Pails of seawater?
Must you keep bringing me
Pails of seawater?

The tide came in
And all my castle-dreams are once again
Sea-laden sand.

You built upon the rock, it seems.

I built upon my foolish dreams.
